1966 Plymouth Fury II - Grey Primer 4 door post sedan.

I am a little fuzzy on Fury 2 which was actually a Fury II and my second Fury.  It is a shame I did not start out with a Fury I and then later move on to a Fury II.  It seems my next Fury will have to be a Fury I.  This is a shame since Fury Is are the bargain basement Fury.  Hopefully if I ever buy a Fury I it will have a sick motor in it and be a "Sleeper".

I think I needed to sell that Pioneer stereo with the car to get rid of the Maverick.  And somehow I wound up with my Father's Fury II.  I think I sold the maverick because I needed money.  And I was back to just a motorcycle.  I think why I do not remember this as clearly and the first time my Father drove a car up from Florida for me is that he was getting used to it by now.  And no doubt it was better to drop a car off to me in NJ then listen to the constant barrage he would have to endure at home if he did not.

Anyway here I am with a car, no stereo, and no money to buy a decent stereo.  What will I do?  Well I managed to scrape up a few bucks for an FM stereo and a pair of cheap 4" round speakers for the doors.  While installing it I had a brainstorm.  I remembered reading somewhere that if you cross the positive leads of both stereo channels you can come up with a poor man's third channel.  Wow!  It worked!  Was this magic?  In any event this was the best sounding cheap stereo I have installed in any car.  I was very happy.

I drove Fury 2 for a while before getting bored again.  Once more let me reiterate that a 318 V8 powered Fury does not warrant the name Fury.  Also the color of the car was a bit on the depressing side.  At one time Fury 2 was a very conservative light grey.  Over time that color began to look more like grey primer.  It was not actually painted with grey primer all over, but it sure looked like it.  In actuality that primer color prepped me for my next car.  And come to think of it perhaps I did spray a few spots with grey primer. It was this car that gave this and my future cars the nickname "Spot Mobile".

And did I mention that the front of the car resembles a Labrador?  I am so glad it did not constantly lick you and jump on you when you got close.  I was ready to move on.

Somehow, somewhere I came up with some cash, perhaps from a student loan.  or did I sell a motorcycle?  I had $800.  I wanted a muscle car.  I had $800.  Even in those days $800 did not buy much of a muscle car.  I sold Fury II  to my friend Rob (AKA "Kwi Kwi").  He drove Fury 2 for quite some time afterwards.  Apparently I sell cars quite often before they need to be sold.  I am quite good at this.

Goodbye Fury 2, hello GTO.
