1977 Chevrolet Monte Carlo - White with Blue Vinyl 2 door hardtop.
After my Semi sporty Cougar, the Monte Carlo was a trip to the mild side. This pictured car is not the same color as my white Chevrolet, but it is a good pose for this car. But here is a great name for a car. Monte Carlo. It screams European class. Sophisticated, suave, in the know. Monte Carlo the car was not so bad either. Especially considering the price, free. Thanks to my generous Father In Law who made a gift of his Monte Carlo once he felt it had reached its twilight years. He always keeps his cars until the wheels almost are falling off. I do not recall the exact mileage of the Monte but it was somewhere north of 150K and still going strong. There was a bit of rust, but the interior and overall appearance held up well over the mileage and years. While it was no Mercedes, somehow this car seemed a quality piece The rust was there, after all this is a GM car, but it felt good driving it. The good feeling did not last long and the engine and transmission seemed to be calling out for help. My job was going great, so perhaps it was time for a new car! This idea was very exciting. I read car magazines cover to cover and the automotive industry was starting to recover from the malaise of the mid seventies and early eighties. Cars were starting to show signs of excitement once again. It was not quite a repeat of 1970, but things were looking up. The 1986 Mustang was cool and now was fuel injected and a good value. Sayonara Mr., Monte. |
