1987 Ford Aerostar XLT - Blue Minivan. (Ouch!)

| Ok this one is a real let down after that hot Mark VII. Now we
have two minivans. But I am hoping this torture will only last a
few months. Will it?
Our nickname for this fine machine is the Aeroflop, but really it was a very good car/van. No problems to speak of but it is very truck-like. After all it is a truck right? It had a load fan whine that exacerbated the truckiness. Why couldn't the Ford engineers fix that before they let this truckster loose on the populace? But strangely after driving the Aeroflop every day it kind of grew on me. It still looked like new, was pretty easy on gas, and could carry a lot of goods, especially for those trips to the home project center. Back in those days I was more into that. So the Aerostar sort of became the dog I did not have , a homely. friendly face always willing to take me where I wanted to go and happy to carry a heavy load. But I could not let myself get too attached. So many other more beautiful sirens called me on to the financial rocks. After holding back the proper amount of socially acceptable time after dumping my Lincoln I started a new car search, one that would take me to a more exotic place than i had been before. I sadly said goodbye to my reliable friend and adopted a new companion, one that gave rise to more sporting feelings. Hello 300ZX. |
