The WS6 package first appeared on the Pontiac Firebird in 1978. It was a wheel and suspension upgrade at first and added rear disk brakes the next year. The Ws6 option disappeared with the introduction of the Gen 4 Firebird and was reintroduced in 1996 for both the Formula and Trans Am.
