Daily Driver

So if my WS6 is my garage queen, I need something to drive every day.  Currently this is my daily driver:

BMW 335i M6

The BMW 335i is an awsome car.  It has the twin turbos and it will run in the 11s with a CAI, a tune, and drag radials.  It also does not break. No delicate 10 bolt here.  But it is leased and I am tired of the payment.  I am glad to have had the privilege of driving this car.  It runs hard, has great brakes and handles.  But it is so quiet and competent it can be a little boring.

So whne my lease is up next summer what do I do?  One obvious choice, a Camaro SS.  But I think they are a little ugly, a little heavy, and at $38K loaded they are expensive.  I am not knocking the new SS, but I am not sure if it is for me.

Then there is the 2011 Coyote Mustang.  Lighter than the Camaro with probably competitive hosepower, bigger brakes and a six speed.  This could be a Mustang GT like no other.  But once again a loaded Mustang will run over $35k and not particularly pretty.  Big payments here too.

So what car will run low 13s stock, weigh about 3500 pounds, looks fantastic, and is reasonably priced?  How about an LS1 Fbody?  I know how to work on them and other than the annoying 4th gen Fbody problems they are very reliable.  And if I pick an SS Camaro I do not have to worry about those headlight motors.  If I go this way I will choose an automatic 460le since although I love shifting myself, my WS6 already has one.  The auto is much easier in traffic.

And once my Ws6 Project is done, an SS project would make a great track car to take to Atco.  The autos are more consistant and usually faster than the T56s and the 10 bolt can live in a 10 second SS.  All the money I save by not making payments can fund both projects.  If I take my time I probaly can find many used parts to help.

I like this idea now.  Let's see if it holds up until next summer.
